Review: Pura D'or Shampoo and Conditioner

About Pura D'or

Pura D'or is an all natural beauty line make of certified organic products. They have all types of hair products, skin care, and even nail treatments. There are little to no fillers or preservatives in their line. I had a chance to test out their Scalp and Dandruff shampoo, as well as their Lavender Vanilla conditioner.

How is it used?

The shampoo and conditioner come in generously sized bottles, 16 fl oz each. The bottles come with a pump so there is no turning and shaking the bottle to get at the last little bit. I have fine, shoulder length hair and use about 10 pumps of shampoo then 5-10 pumps of conditioner. You use these like normal but let the product sit for 2 mins before rinsing, this gives the product a chance to work into your hair and scalp. 

First Impressions

When I first got this product, I was a bit skeptical because of the brand being organic and argan oil based. My hair is normally very greasy and not fit for oil based products. I also normally don't use conditioner because my hair gets too greasy if I use too much or use it too often. Despite my skepticism, I used the shampoo and conditioner the next day. The pump is very easy to press and lets out very little product with each press.

I used about 10 pumps of shampoo and immediately noticed a strong smell I couldn't quite place at first, wasn't off putting, just a smell that I have smelled before. I had my fiance use it and he immediately pointed out the tea tree oil smell. The shampoo works awesome and leaves your hair feeling soft, as well as protecting your scalp from dandruff.
The conditioner was my most anticipated product because conditioner is not my hair's best friend. I went for it and used the conditioner anyway. I started with 5 pumps and realized how quickly my hair absorbed the product, so I used 5 more. I applied it to the ends of my hair and stayed away from my scalp. After the 2 mins, I rinsed. HOLY COW! My hair felt like silk! These 2 products are amazing on my hair. My hair was not greasy or weird smelling and I could not stop touching it. I even called my fiance over after I dried my hair and made him feel how soft my hair was.
I wash my hair every other day and have been using this product for about 2 weeks. I have never used conditioner this often and my hair is still as soft as the first day I used the product. I have no build up in my hair or on my scalp and my hair feels cleaner between washes. Usually by the middle of day 2 I will need a boost of dry shampoo, but I can get the whole 2 days without needing any extra product. This product is seriously a life changing cleanser for my hair. While the price is steep at $25 each, you get a generous amount, a 99%-100% certified organic product, and a 90 day supply. I plan to purchase from this line again after my products are gone. Pura D'or has an anti-hair loss shampoo that I am open to try,

Review: Naturalico Speed Jump Rope

Naturalico Jump Rope

This jump rope is a great addition to your workout equipment. My favorite feature of this jump rope is the fact that it is adjustable for you. The jump rope comes with 10 feet of cord and you simply adjust the nut and bearing down to where you feel comfortable and tighten again. The bearing prevents your handles from sliding back up to the end. You simply take a sharp pair of scissors or wire cutters and clip off your access cord, then attach the rubber cover back on the end. This jump rope is very easy to use and is great for those moments when you need a quick cardio workout and don't have a lot of time, just jump for 5-10 mins and you are done! Review: Rami Naturals Colon Cleanse

What is it?

This is a colon cleanse product that is all natural and helps your body to eliminate toxins and waste from your body. There is no fillers or products in here to cause any harsh side effects such as headache and nausea. Colon cleanses can help improve with any gas/bloating, improve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, relieve constipation, get rid of overly smelling stools, improve skin problems, reduce fatigue, improve bad breath, and help with weight loss.

How is it used?

Take 2 pills in the morning after breakfast and make sure to drink your 8-8oz glasses of water a day. If you can tolerate 2 in one day, you may take 2 more at night after dinner. This is a 2 week regimen, but you may choose to only do the cleanse for 1 full week. They suggest waiting at least 8 weeks between cleanses to make sure you don't eliminate any good bacteria from your gut and return back to normal.

First Impressions

This cleanse does not have any type of laxative effect and won't make you have to go right now, or else. This cleanse helped to improve my energy levels. I was not eating the most healthy before starting this cleanse and I was just feeling very tired all the time. This cleanse helped clear all of the bad things from my body so I could start over with eating healthy again to get in better shape for the summer. I only used 2 pills in the morning for 1 week and that was all I needed to feel like a new person, resulting in me having more energy to keep up with my 1 1/2 year old.

Review: Key West Dark Spot Corrector

What is it?

Key West Dark Spot corrector is a blend of natural and organic ingredients used to lighten your dark spots safely and effectively. First Impressions

I liked this product at first but after a few uses, my skin started to have a reaction to it and my skin would burn after use. I unfortunately was not able to continue use of the corrector. 

I do love that the bottle is a pump top and the formula is thick enough that it stays put after pumping into your hand. There is minimal to no odor on this formula and there is no residue left behind. I do wish I could give a complete, honest review, but my skin did not tolerate this formula well. I am going to see if I can find somebody to use this so I can come back and edit my review

Review: Petunia Skin Care Line

What is it?

I had the chance to review Petunia's skin care line, a derma roller, eye serum, and hyaluronic acid face serum.
The derma roller is used for your face and body, it helps improve wrinkles and fine lines, reduce blackheads, improve acne scars, reduce enlarged pores, reduce cellulite, and lighten stretch marks. The derma roller does this by stimulating collagen production in the area and stimulate skin cell growth. The derma roller also helps prepare your skin to better absorb any serums or creams you will be applying to your skin.
The eye serum works to improve dark circles, reduce bags and puffiness, and get rid of tired looking or swollen eyes. The anti-aging and firming treatment helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, or crows feet.
The hyaluronic face serum is a moisturizing anti-wrinkles cream to help repair and prevent wrinkles and fine lines, and moisturize dry skin.

How is it used?

The derma roller is used first. You simply start with a clean face(or whatever area you are using it on) and glide the roller over the whole area in every direction. It takes me a good 2 mins to do my whole face. 

Next is the eye serum, you simply apply 1-2 pumps on your finger tips and rub all over your eyes. 

You skin may feel a bit sensitive after using the derma roller, so it's best to use a face serum and/or cream once you are done. You apply 1-2 pumps of the hyaluronic serum on your fingers and rub onto your whole face.

First Impressions

First off, the derma roller, commonly known in the beauty community as a demon stick, SCARED me! Just looking at it, it's a roller with tiny needles that you need to rub on your skin. When I was given the chance to review this, I sucked it up for reviewing purposes and gave it a go. It is a very weird sensation when you first use it, my skin felt tingly and it felt like a light tickle. Though once I was done, my skin did burn a bit, but that was only after the first use or 2. I have been using the roller 2 times a week and I honestly don't even think about it now. I have been using it for about a month now, and my skin feels smoother and I can see a very small improvement in my pores. I think with prolonged use, I may see even more improvement. After use I apply my favorite vitamin C serum, then some moisturizer to soothe my skin.

The eye serum is very thick and easy to apply, which is what you want when you are applying it to your eye area. There is no strong smell or residue left behind. The formula absorbs quick and feels great. While I do not have any fine lines or wrinkles around my eye area, I do not use this often. 

I am not a huge fan of the hyaluronic serum. There is a slight perfume type smell that I do not like. I used the serum a few times and just couldn't use it anymore because the smell was too much for me. I honestly can't say much about the serum at this point because I did not use it long enough to see any improvement.

Review: Pure Body Naturals Peppermint Oil

What is it and how is it used?

This is a 100% pure and natural undiluted essential oil. Peppermint oil has SO many uses, I am only going to name a few. You can put some drops around the doors and windows of your home to keep mice and spiders away, you can place a few drops in your humidifier to help decrease symptoms of a cold(or any type of respiratory distress you may have at the moment), reduce dandruff, and help with migraines. You can also add this oil to your crafts, such as when you make sugar scrubs or candles.

First Impressions

I used a few drops of this oil in the humidifier in my daughter's room when she had a stuffy nose due to teething. I kept the humidifier for a good 2 hours before I had to turn it off, the smell was VERY overwhelming. We kept the humidifier off for the rest of the night and when we woke up the peppermint smell was still in her room, you could actually smell it just from walking by her room. The next night I just placed a cotton ball soaked in the oil in a small container on her dresser. The smell was there, but not as overwhelming. I plan on using this to make some sugar body scrubs and even plan to mix it with some coconut oil to make some scented lip balm. There really are lots of uses for essential oils, I can't wait to add more scents to my collection.

Review: Baby More Co. wrap carrier

What is it?

This is a wrap carrier and is very similar to the top brands in feel and materiel. If you have a particularly clingy baby or want to practice attachment parenting, the Baby More wrap should be considered. Wraps are amazing if you have other children or household chores to tend to. Placing baby in the wrap will give them the bonding you want, but give you the freedom to get things done with BOTH hands. This wrap is made for a front carry and can easily carry a newborn-toddler(under 32lbs). This product comes in 3 colors, black, pink, and blue. 

How do I use it? 

Before you use a wrap, it's best to practice putting on it on because it is not something you want to throw on and put your baby in before you feel comfortable. I used a stuffed doll to put in the wrap instead of my daughter for the first few uses. 

The wrap does come with instructions, but if you need a visual on how to use the wrap, there are plenty of very informative videos on YouTube showing how to wrap your baby. 

First Impressions

While the wrap is great, I believe my daughter may be too old to enjoy this wrap. I think wraps are better used for under 9 months or before they become more mobile. My daughter is currently 17 months and she was not a total fan of the front carry because to give best support, their arms should be tucked into the carrier with baby. My daughter is more of a fan of a hip carry and we use a ring sling on particularly clingy days. I am looking forward to using this wrap in the future for my next child. I wish I bought this sooner because it would have saved a TON of trouble during the newborn stage. I am going to keep this in mind for future baby shower gifts for my friends and family.

First Impressions

I have never used self-tanning towelettes before, i'm more of a tanning lotion type girl. While my results were not what I expected, I think mine was due to user error. There is a learning curve for sure when it comes to towelettes. Please do not get discouraged if you realize you missed a spot, just go over with another towel when you notice and it will even out. You do see some result after 4 hours, but it was best to wait overnight. The pictures I am linking below are after 15 hours.

As you can see, my application was VERY uneven, but the color payoff is great! If I actually applied the product right, I would be thrilled. I'm just glad it's winter so I can wear long pants and sweaters to cover up the uneven application. I will be trying this again in a few weeks to see if I can get the application process down.

Review: Foxbrim Natural Refresh Toner

What is Foxbrim Toner?

How is it Used?

First Impression

I was not super impressed that it was a spray bottle, but using the cosmetic sponge works just as well for me. This product did help in getting rid of any hyper-pigmentation/post acne marks I have on my skin. I find myself reaching for my concealer less and less after using this product. I have less redness in my skin and I think this is going to make a great addition to my skin care routine. I love that this is an all natural product, so I don't have to worry about my skin becoming irritated or my pores being blocked after use.

Review: Dr Song Professional Teeth Whitening Kit

What is it?

This product is a professional teeth whitening kit you can use at home. This is a maximum strength kit, the same dentists use in their office. This kit alone is not recommended for sensitive teeth, you can purchase a separate remineralizing gel kit to desensitize your teeth during treatment. 

The kit includes:

• 8 large syringes of whitening gel - good for 50 applications
• gel applicator brush - for easy application of whitening gel
• LED blue light accelerator - for acceleration of whitening process
• 3 moldable teeth trays

How do I use it?

Tips:

• Keep gel away from gums, as it can cause irritation or temporary bleaching of gums
• Keep the kit in a cool dark place, away from sunlight
• The light is optional, but it speeds up the whitening process
• Use shorter and more frequent treatments to achieve longer lasting results
• When it comes to gel, less is more
• Do not do long treatments if you are not sure how sensitive your teeth are
• The shelf life of the gel is 12 months

Prepare the trays:

1. Place the tray on your upper teeth. Practice with your tongue on the roof of your mouth and touching the inside of the tray. Suck the air from the tray. This helps to contour the tray to your teeth. Repeat with lower tray
2. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Pour water into a cup and let it sit for 1 min. Starting with 1 tray at a time, dip the tray in the water for 5 seconds. If the tray folds into itself(happens when dipped too long), reshape the tray to it's original form and allow to cool before dipping again.
3. Lift the tray out of the water from the tab and carefully, but quickly, place the tray around your teeth and immediately perform step 1.
4. The tray can be reformed multiple times, so don't worry if you are not satisfied with the first fit.
5. Once you are satisfied with your fit, trim the front tab off the tray. You can trim the tray itself if you find the tray is too large.

Whitening:

1. Brush and floss
2.  If you are using desensitizing gel, apply this now. Dispense .5ml of gel into a small bowl and use the applicator brush to apply a thin layer of gel to the front of your teeth. Do the same with the whitening gel. You only need to apply the gel to the front of your teeth because nobody will see the back.
3. Insert the trays and immediately wipe off any excess gel from your gums.
• Optional: You can use the LED light by placing it over your trays and use it for 15 mins at the beginning of your session
4. Wear the trays for 15 mins but no more than 4 hours, depending on how strong you desire treatment. If sensitivity or irritation occur, wait 24 hours before using the treatment again and use less gel. You can repeat daily until you reach your desired shade. You may also wear the trays longer if you do not experience sensitivity.
5. Gently remove any excess gel that remains on your teeth and gums to prevent any possible irritation.

First Impressions

While this kit does not work as fast as my prior whitening kit I used, this kit did make my teeth a few shades whiter after 3 15 min sessions. I have not tried the kit for longer periods of time, but with the holidays coming up, I may try a few longer sessions around Christmas time to boost the whitening of my teeth. I am also using a whitening toothpaste and rinse which adds an extra boost of whitening power to my teeth.

Review: Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curler

What is the Kiss InstaWave?

The Kiss InstaWave is a clipless curling iron/wand that has a 1" rotating barrel that creates tangle-free, beautiful, long-lasting curls with ease! It is easy to use with either hand and has a curl dial that can make left/right curling directions. The wand also has 2 heat settings that reach a max temperature of 420 degrees. The wand also has an automatic timer that turns the wand off after 90 mins, so no need to stress after you leave. "Did I forget to turn off my curling wand?" How do I use it?

Make sure your hair is 100% dry and tangle free before beginning. Start by settling your heat to your desired temperature. The wand has an indicator light that turns red when the device is on, but turns blue when it reaches the right temperature, the wand heats up in under 2 mins. 

Start by grabbing a 1-2" section of hair and placing the hair in the dial at the bottom of the wand. Make sure you hold the wand vertical and close to your roots for a more natural curl. 

Push the the curl dial button left or right and the InstaWave will instantly and automatically catch your hair and wrap it around the wand to curl it. Release the button when all of the hair is wrapped on the barrel. **Pro Tip: Switch between curling your hair left and right for a more natural look. When you reach the front of your face, curl the hair away from your face.

Make sure the wand is vertical and hold for 5-10 seconds(depending on your desired look)

Pull the wand straight down to release your hair and admire your wonderful curls!

First Impressions

It took me about 3 tries to get the hang of the curling wand, and I still was not super impressed with it. Though the barrel is 1", my hair is a few inches past my shoulders and the wand did not do a great job curling my hair, I think this product is best for longer hair. The curls weren't a complete fail, they did look pretty nice in some parts, maybe I just need a bit more practice with it. (I will insert pictures)

As you can tell by my face, I was not completely impressed with it. Maybe if I tried a few more times and tried on somebody with longer hair it would look great. I've seen fantastic results from this wand and it is still growing on me. Maybe my next time will be a huge success and I can post a great update!(Stay tuned!)

Review: Morea Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Age Delay Serum

What is Morea Natural Acid Age Delay Serum?

Much like my previous serums I have reviewed, this is pretty much like the others. This is a vitamin C serum, but it also has green tea extracts to add a boost of antioxidants to your skin. The hyaluronic acid aids in plumping up any wrinkles or fine lines you may have on your skin. This product is also 72% organic, which is nice because you are not putting harmful chemicals on your skin. 

How do I use it?

This is used much like any other serum. 

1. Wash and dry your face

First Impressions

When I first received this product I thought mine was defective. It honestly took about 30-40 pumps before any amount of product begin to pump out. Once the product did come out, I was happy that it was thicker than other serums I've used. I honestly am not a fan of the liquid serums from a dropper, I feel like I am racing against the product before it pools out of my hands. The smell of this product is a bit off putting, but it is not enough to stop me from using it. The smell does go away after a moment. 

While I have no fine lines to comment about, this product does seem to help keep my skin tone even and fresh. I have had discoloration in the past and it's nice to not have to worry about my skin anymore.

Review: Thirty Scary Tales

While I would not call these stories scary, they did however keep me on my toes and keep my attention. Though I am not much of a short story reader, I did get through all 30 tales within 2 nights. Not sure if I would go back and reread it over and over, but there are a few stories I might go back to and read every now and than.
At the end of each short story, the author gives information of how she came to write the story, and where it came from. It was a nice addition to the tales, instead of just random short tales mushed together in one book.

Review: Terry Treetop Finds New Friends

When I got the chance to download this book onto my Kindle supported device, I was pretty excited to read it with my daughter. My daughter is 15 months and she does not have much attention span for even a short story at the moment. I figured I would bring my device to work and read it with my students(age 3). They seemed to enjoy this story much more than my daughter.
This story teaches patience, persistence, and even motivation. Terry's father builds him a new tree house, but he is feeling a bit lonely, so he journeys out to find a new friend to keep him company. He encounters a few friends on his adventures, but they are all too busy to join Terry Treetop. Does Terry ever find a new friend? Review: Adovia Natural Sulfur Soap Bar

What is Adovia Natural Soap Bar?

This is a bar designed specifically for those with acne and oily skin(can be used on your face or body). The bar has ingredients such as olive oil, dead sea minerals, sulfur, and aloe vera extract, just to name a few. 

Sulfur has great antiseptic, anti-fungal, and antibacterial properties, but can be a bit drying to most skin. Adovia recommends that you start off slow when using this bar, don't go using it twice a day every day. Try using the bar once every other day or even every 2 days. Slowly work your way up to where you want to be. If you notice your skin drying too much, try to skip a day or cut down on how many times a day you use it. 

How do I use it?

This is pretty much used like any normal bar of soap.

1. Wet skin where applying and hands(or whatever you are using to apply). I personally use my Konjac Charcoal Sponge to apply the soap bar.

2. Rub soap on hands or item being used. I rub my wet sponge across the soap bar about 3-4 times and that is plenty for my face! 

3. Apply to skin and rinse.

First Impressions

I've never been one for sulfur based acne products and I personally was a bit hesitant to try this. I took one for the team and used it, boy am I glad I did! This product is great. The bar does not have a scent to it, so I don't need to worry about having different fragrances on my face is a choose to apply my vitamin C serums, which always seem to have a scent to them. I have been using this product for about a month and it has done a great job keeping my acne at bay. I may get an occasional pimple here and there, which is perfectly fine with me, I will then apply a spot treatment and go on my way. Using the sponge with the soap has made me use less product than I normally would, so I see lots of use coming from this soap bar! It looks like I barely made a dent in the soap and i've been using it once a day for a month. I may up my use to twice a day when the summer comes back around because I always tend to break out in the summer months due to my skin producing more sweat and oils. I hope they keep this soap bar around for the long run, because I will be repurchasing this bar for sure! Thank you Adovia for sending me this product for testing purposes.
